Silent Disco Named No.1 Walking Tour of London in Less Than A Year

"We were thrilled to see the feedback we have been getting on TripAdvisor and to get to the number one spot on the site is fantastic."
Lee Hathaway

A West End Musical Silent Disco has been named the number one walking tour in London by TripAdvisor less than a year after it was launched by two lifelong theatre fans.

The tour, which takes in some of the biggest theatres in London, has achieved more than 99% five-star reviews on the popular review site and tops the list of 1,200 tours in the capital.

Set up by big-time musical fans Lee Hathaway, 43, and Shaun Ames, 37, lovers of the musicals can dance and sing along to hits from over 24 West End shows such as The Lion King, Wicked, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Hamilton, and Les Misérables.

Lee and Shaun took the plunge and invested in dozens of headsets and set up the tour after a chat in the pub.

Lee, a magician and Member of the Inner Magic Circle, said: “When people have the headset on they become really immersed in the experience. It’s like being transported to another reality.”

“Even people who are quite introverted get really into the experience and you’ll have people saying ‘I never thought I would be doing the Time Warp in Leicester Square’.”

As well as hearing hits from the musicals during a walking tour of London’s biggest theatres, guests also get to hear facts about their favourite shows and insider information on what’s coming soon to the West End.

Celebrity fans include Sam Smith, Jo Whiley and Stephen Mulhern, who actually stopped in the street to take part in the Time Warp!

Lee added: “The tour has a structure and narrative to it. We match the music to locations, for example at the Lyceum Theatre where The Lion King is showing, everyone sings along to Hakuna Matata.”

Lee and Shaun, a stage/tour manager, use their own knowledge of the West End and performing to make the tours engaging and fun.

Lee said: “We were thrilled to see the feedback we have been getting on TripAdvisor and to get to the number one spot on the site is fantastic.”

Following on from the popularity of the West End Musicals Tour, Silent Disco Walking Tours now offers Drag Queen, Christmas and Haunted themed tours of the capital.

The tours operate for a maximum of 35 people and the West End tour lasts for two hours.

The cost per person is from £14 to £19 with group discounts available.
