Ground breaking lawyer joins London office

Ground breaking lawyer joins London office

"Im looking forward to the scope of resources offered by Slater and Gordon to help me achieve my professional goals, both personally and for my clients."
Peter Daly

Slater and Gordon has appointed leading employment lawyer Peter Daly as a Principal Lawyer into its London team.

Peter joined in May from Bindmans, where he acted in a number of ground breaking cases which reached the High Court and Court of Appeal.

Discrimination work is central to Peter’s cases. On behalf of one client he is seeking to establish Ethical Veganism as a protected philosophical belief.

A number of his cases have aimed to protect whistleblowers. Peter acted for Shahmir Sanni, who brought attention to EU referendum voting irregularities.

He also acted for whistleblowers alleging corruption at Kosovo’s European Union Rule of Law Mission and litigated against the use of national security legislation to gag whistleblowers in the utilities sector.

Peter said: “I’m very pleased to be joining the Slater and Gordon team. Its London office is vibrant and busy. It’s hugely exciting to be a part of this team.

“I’m looking forward to the scope of resources offered by Slater and Gordon to help me achieve my professional goals, both personally and for my clients. The agile working model has also been a big draw.

“The employment team are very strong and attract a range of interesting cases. They are also a great group of people.”

NHS cases are another speciality for Peter. He has advised clients extensively on MHPS, job planning and contract negotiation, discrimination and whistleblowing. He also advised on the Judicial Review of the Junior Doctors’ Contract.

Peter is a skilled negotiator. He has worked on injunctive relief cases, employee exit packages and advising corporate and NGO clients.

Paula Chan, Head of the Employment Team said: “Peter is a talented lawyer, rising quickly and gaining a reputation for his work representing employees who have been treated unfairly.

“Our London team is very strong and having Peter join further bolsters this depth of knowledge and reputation.  We are delighted to welcome him.”

The Legal 500 recommends Peter on Professional Discipline and names him as a next generation lawyer for Employment: employees/unions.
