‘Women in the Food Industry’ is providing a platform for thought leadership and relationship building for women working in Britain’s food, drink and hospitality industry ahead of International Women’s Day 2019

The inaugural ‘Women in the Food Industry’ events will bring together a diverse mix of female food and drink leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss the issues impacting women working in food-related careers in United Kingdom.

Mecca Ibrahim and Janie Ash are the co-founders in this pioneering new initiative, ‘Women in the Food Industry’.

A series of events, in London and Edinburgh takes place in the run up to International Women’s Day on 8th March with further events planned for later in the year, specifically in Lancashire and the North West.

Women in the Food Industry’ is supported by major female influencers in the food world, including Asma Khan, first British chef on Netflix’s award-winning Chef’s Table, Michelin starred chef Frances Atkins, MasterChef winner, Jane Devonshire, Executive Chef of the Allbright Collective, Roux Scholarship Finalist and Great British Menu Entrant, Sabrina Gidda and Great British Menu judge and Saturday Kitchen host, Andi Oliver.

Previously Head of Social Media & Marketing at Great British Chefs, Mecca has an impeccable food marketing reputation. She heads up Mex Marketing, a social media and marketing consultancy and food events platform, Nom, Nom, Nom.

Ash’s journey to becoming one of North West’s leading female entrepreneurs has been colourful and varied, heading up a number of creative and marketing agencies – all the time building her reputation as a brand strategist with expertise in hospitality. She is Managing Director at Better with Jam and an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Lancaster University.

The women speak with one voice; “Our shared mantra is we believe none of us is stronger than all of us and together, anything is possible. We are a new kind of creative and marketing partnership made up of the best women we know and brought together by friendship and a love of food. We’re passionate about the narrative powers of food. We champion all women in the food industry and our heartfelt desire is to build a nurturing community and encourage women to help women.”
